I know I'm late, but in large parts of the world it's still St. Patrick's Day, right? So I'll take that as an excuse to post this oldie, originally posted over at BuffyTube.

Also, apologies to all the new people on my flist for being utterly unable to keep up with everyone's posts.
double_dutchess: (S10 stake + scythe)
Many people say that LJ is almost dead these days, but it doesn't seem like that to me. There's so much interesting stuff on my friends feed that I have trouble keeping up. (Though maybe that says more about my own lack of time than about the LJ activity level.)

Still, being a latecomer to LJ, I know there are lots of interesting, nice and creative people who I haven't "met" (or at least friended) yet, so I've decided to join in [livejournal.com profile] teragramm's "Circling the Wagons" friending meme. Which means this is my mandatory pimping post -- go check it out!
double_dutchess: (Spike soul)
Via a link in the [livejournal.com profile] su_herald, today I came across this great post by [livejournal.com profile] pfeifferpack about Spike and whether or not he needed a soul and why. I like this post, because it largely reflects how I've always felt about Spike and his soul. It's also a good excuse to post an old vid of mine, in which I tried to express a similar view in my own preferred medium.

"Things change."
"They do. If you make them."

It's not my best vid, but it's important to me because I love soulless Spike's journey so much. To quote from pfeifferpack's post, I think he did not need the soul for redemption. He was on the road to that already with each baby step, each choice.

So I didn't have much time (as usual) but I still wanted to do something for Valentine's Day. So here's a little Spuffy valentine based on the S10 comics, art by Megan Levens. (With a few small "fixes" -- yeah, I really dislike that line she always draws across Spike's nose.)

Tea Consent

This "consent for dummies" video was mentioned in my newspaper so I went to check it out, and I thought it was great. Yes, it is that simple!

double_dutchess: (Spuffel wedding)
I've been in a Spuffel mood lately (here's why) and so I was really happy that the very talented [livejournal.com profile] spikesredqueen made me a beautiful Spuffel wallpaper as a mod challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] nekid_spike. (Sorry, you have to be a member to see it.) Thank you so much, this is gracing my desktop now!

And when talking about Spuffel art, I can't not mention the amazing wallpapers and icons that were very recently made by [livejournal.com profile] blondebitz for the very lucky [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot. Check them out here and here!

Due to RL issues, I am way behind with -- well, basically everything. And this includes thanking the lovely people who nominated some of my stuff for the Running with Scissors Awards ([livejournal.com profile] rwsawards): my Seasonal Spuffy banner and icon #7, and the Searching for Jim banner I made for [livejournal.com profile] sparrow2000 last year. There's no way I'm going to win anything, given the level of the competition -- brilliant entries all. But it's still wonderful to be up there with the rest, so a big THANK YOU to my nominators!

I'm sorry to say I didn't have the opportunity to nominate anyone myself. I will be voting though, because as it turns out there are two categories that involve voting instead of judging. But it's going to be really difficult to pick just one entry in each category...

Now that we're at the start of a new year, it's time to look back on my past fandom year, starting when I first got on to LJ at Christmas 2014. Below is a categorized overview of my vids, icons and other artwork that I debuted on LJ since then. I'm listing both new work and older work that I made before my LJ-days and that I had already posted in other places such as BuffyTube.

2015 was not a good year for me in terms of free time, but I'm pleased with how much I still managed to do. Many thanks to all my LJ friends and fellow fans who have welcomed and encouraged me -- I hope we will have more fandom fun together in 2016!

Overview of 2015 (and a tiny bit of 2014) )
double_dutchess: (Spuffel wedding)
Yes! It's the last day of 2015, and I have finally finished the vidding project I started in the summer of 2014. The reason it took me so long is that outside the summer and Christmas holidays, I had very little time to work on it. Anyway, it's a  AU BtVS vid exploring the S/B/A love triangle, featuring Angel as Bobby, Spike as Roger and Buffy as Eileen.
On to the vid )

Happy New Year to everybody, and I hope you enjoy the vid!
double_dutchess: (Do You Hear What I Hear)
This is my final catching up post. My most recent contribution to fandom was the creation of a set of Christmas icons for this year's  [livejournal.com profile] noel_of_spike. Making them was such a good way to celebrate the start of my holidays!

Teaser:

Here are all the icons, and the Christmas songs that inspired them: )

This year was the 10th anniversary round of [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy (theme: Look Both Ways). I participated in the banner contest with a banner based on Steve Morris' cover of Buffy S10 #12:

Of course, the competition was much too strong for me, with the super-talented [livejournal.com profile] boiiko as the rightful winner with a truly amazing hand-drawn banner.

For my posting day, I made a set of 12 Spuffy icons inspired by one of the first icon entries from 10 years ago, a great set by [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa.

double_dutchess: (narwhal Spike)
This August, [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends celebrated its 5th anniversary with a comment party (posting and responding to prompts in the comments). Besides making a Spuffy cocktail version of Harmony's Spuffel fantasy from Buffy S10 #10 in response to the "Spuffy drink cocktails" prompt, I was also inspired to create some artwork by [livejournal.com profile] foxstarreh's narwhal prompt, or more precisely, by the delightful narwhal!Spike fic that [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight wrote in response to that prompt.

Some lovely people nominated my work for Round 12 of the No Rest For The Wicked Awards this summer. I was nominated in the following categories:

  • Something to Sing About (Best Icon for AtS, BtVS and Firefly) with my "Real Men Drink Tea" icon from the Giles/tea icon set I made for summer_of_giles

  • Under Your Spell (Best Banner for AtS, BtVS and Firefly) with the banner I made for [livejournal.com profile] sparrow2000's wonderful story Searching for Jim

  • That Vision Thing (Best Music Video for BtVS and AtS) with my vid Broad Daylight, made for sb_fag_ends

I even won two awards: Real Men Drink Tea got a Judge's Choice, and Broad Daylight won Runner Up for Best BtVS and AtS Music Video.

So here's a belated Big Thank You to my nominators, the [livejournal.com profile] wicked_awards organisers and the judges!

double_dutchess: (Faith 5x5)
This is the first of a few catching-up posts with stuff I've made the past year that I have posted elsewhere, but not yet on my own LJ.

These are four Faith icons I made for [livejournal.com profile] whedon_elite Challenge 123 this summer:
Number four won Best Crop, and the unsurpassed [livejournal.com profile] red_satin_doll made me a gorgeous banner, yay!

Merry Christmas (or whatever you celebrate) to all my fandom friends! And if you don't celebrate anything, just enjoy the holidays -- that's what I do.

After a year in which I had to spend almost all of my time on work and family issues, I am so happy to have the Christmas holidays and some time for myself. I plan on doing a lot of catching up, posting and commenting. Hopefully I'll get everything I want done before the craziness that is work starts up again.

The image is a large, adapted version of an icon I originally made for Seasonal Spuffy, and then Christmasified for Noel of Spike.
double_dutchess: (Spike+Dru)
Apologies for hardly being around lately. I'm drowning in work and unlikely to resurface for any length of time before the Christmas holidays. Still, I managed to do a little thing for Halloween!

I participated in the Nekid Numbers Halloween over at [livejournal.com profile] nekid_spike and got the prompt "Wesley or Drusilla / Ghost / Woods". I went with Dru, and this is what I came up with. The text is from the poem Haunted Forest by Kurt Kacich.

Ghost Dru in the Woods )

The past few years I always used to make a Halloween vid for BuffyTube, but that's a no go this year. So I'm posting an old vid that fits in with Ghost Dru in the Woods:

Cruel Garden )

Finally, I really would have liked to participate in the [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends Trick or Treat game, but there's no way I can do it. It looks like so much fun and it has already caused a slew of short fics that I'm really looking forward to read. So please, go participate if you have the time. There's still a few days left!

Better head over to [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends; there's a party going on!

More meme

Aug. 12th, 2015 11:49 pm
double_dutchess: (Spuffy flame hands)
Having done the American household meme (which was fun in all its weirdness), of course now I also have to do its British counterpart that is currently doing the rounds. Since I'm neither British nor American, I'm not sure if this one will make much more sense to me.

Meme here... )
double_dutchess: (Spuffy flame hands)
I've never done a meme before, but I saw [livejournal.com profile] teragramm doing this one and I thought it was amusing, so I'm giving it a try.

Recently I participated in my first icon challenge: Challenge 122 "Bright and Shiny" at [livejournal.com profile] whedon_elite. I was amazed to win a third place with my Spuffy Storyteller icon (#4). Many thanks to everyone who voted for my icons! Here are all my challenge entries:

In the icons I used textures from [livejournal.com profile] colorfilter and [livejournal.com profile] burnedbreads.
