This is an oldie, one of my first vids. Spike's ode to Drusilla!

I've spruced the colours up a bit for the occasion. The original, murkier version is on YouTube.

After disappearing off the radar since January, I'm briefly resurfacing to post one of the few things I managed to get done since then.

The following banner was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight's wonderful short fic A Matter of Time, from the last round of [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy. Those of you who have read the story can probably imagine why I felt the urge to illustrate it. If you haven't read it, I suggest that you hurry up and remedy that situation right away!

WARNING: The image contains a big SPOILER, so do not click unless you have read the story.

I just posted this at [livejournal.com profile] noel_of_spike, and I'll post it here too. 2016 has not been the best year (though it did have a few good points) and I'm glad to see the last of it. Wishing all my LJ friends a better 2017!

The recent Harsh Light of Day review at [livejournal.com profile] fantas_magoria (yes, it has started up again, yay!) sparked a good discussion in the comments about Spike and Harmony's relationship and how nasty Spike was to Harmony.

This reminded me of the first fanvid I ever made: a Spike/Harmony vid, set to Shut Up by (of course) The Stranglers. It premiered on BuffyTube on 17 August 2010, in other words, exactly 6 years ago. So I thought I'd repost it here on LJ today, by way of anniversary celebration. Enjoy!

Freshly made: a tiny Spuffy vidlet (of course set to a Stranglers song) for one of the May prompts at [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends. This was thrown together in just a couple of days, so please forgive any flaws!

Setting: BtVS season 7 (except for a bit of cheating with the first clip)
Prompt: Meteorite strike

double_dutchess: (Spike soul)
Via a link in the [livejournal.com profile] su_herald, today I came across this great post by [livejournal.com profile] pfeifferpack about Spike and whether or not he needed a soul and why. I like this post, because it largely reflects how I've always felt about Spike and his soul. It's also a good excuse to post an old vid of mine, in which I tried to express a similar view in my own preferred medium.

"Things change."
"They do. If you make them."

It's not my best vid, but it's important to me because I love soulless Spike's journey so much. To quote from pfeifferpack's post, I think he did not need the soul for redemption. He was on the road to that already with each baby step, each choice.

I've been in a Spuffel mood lately (here's why) and so I was really happy that the very talented [livejournal.com profile] spikesredqueen made me a beautiful Spuffel wallpaper as a mod challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] nekid_spike. (Sorry, you have to be a member to see it.) Thank you so much, this is gracing my desktop now!

And when talking about Spuffel art, I can't not mention the amazing wallpapers and icons that were very recently made by [livejournal.com profile] blondebitz for the very lucky [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot. Check them out here and here!

Yes! It's the last day of 2015, and I have finally finished the vidding project I started in the summer of 2014. The reason it took me so long is that outside the summer and Christmas holidays, I had very little time to work on it. Anyway, it's a  AU BtVS vid exploring the S/B/A love triangle, featuring Angel as Bobby, Spike as Roger and Buffy as Eileen.
On to the vid )

Happy New Year to everybody, and I hope you enjoy the vid!
double_dutchess: (Do You Hear What I Hear)
This is my final catching up post. My most recent contribution to fandom was the creation of a set of Christmas icons for this year's  [livejournal.com profile] noel_of_spike. Making them was such a good way to celebrate the start of my holidays!

Teaser:

Here are all the icons, and the Christmas songs that inspired them: )

This August, [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends celebrated its 5th anniversary with a comment party (posting and responding to prompts in the comments). Besides making a Spuffy cocktail version of Harmony's Spuffel fantasy from Buffy S10 #10 in response to the "Spuffy drink cocktails" prompt, I was also inspired to create some artwork by [livejournal.com profile] foxstarreh's narwhal prompt, or more precisely, by the delightful narwhal!Spike fic that [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight wrote in response to that prompt.

Merry Christmas (or whatever you celebrate) to all my fandom friends! And if you don't celebrate anything, just enjoy the holidays -- that's what I do.

After a year in which I had to spend almost all of my time on work and family issues, I am so happy to have the Christmas holidays and some time for myself. I plan on doing a lot of catching up, posting and commenting. Hopefully I'll get everything I want done before the craziness that is work starts up again.

The image is a large, adapted version of an icon I originally made for Seasonal Spuffy, and then Christmasified for Noel of Spike.

Apologies for hardly being around lately. I'm drowning in work and unlikely to resurface for any length of time before the Christmas holidays. Still, I managed to do a little thing for Halloween!

I participated in the Nekid Numbers Halloween over at [livejournal.com profile] nekid_spike and got the prompt "Wesley or Drusilla / Ghost / Woods". I went with Dru, and this is what I came up with. The text is from the poem Haunted Forest by Kurt Kacich.

Ghost Dru in the Woods )

The past few years I always used to make a Halloween vid for BuffyTube, but that's a no go this year. So I'm posting an old vid that fits in with Ghost Dru in the Woods:

Finally, I really would have liked to participate in the [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends Trick or Treat game, but there's no way I can do it. It looks like so much fun and it has already caused a slew of short fics that I'm really looking forward to read. So please, go participate if you have the time. There's still a few days left!

Better head over to [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends; there's a party going on!

Recently I participated in my first icon challenge: Challenge 122 "Bright and Shiny" at [livejournal.com profile] whedon_elite. I was amazed to win a third place with my Spuffy Storyteller icon (#4). Many thanks to everyone who voted for my icons! Here are all my challenge entries:

In the icons I used textures from [livejournal.com profile] colorfilter and [livejournal.com profile] burnedbreads.

Yay, I made a new vid! Not the one I started over a year ago and still haven't finished, but a "quickie" that I threw together in a few days for the Night & Day July theme over at [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends. Prompt: in broad daylight.

The vidlet contrasts Buffy and Spike's daytime and nighttime activities and is basically all sex and violence. No clips from Seeing Red though. The song is a thoroughly butchered (by me) version of Broad Daylight by Gabriel Rios. I hope you enjoy.

Last month's Buffy comic (S10 issue #15) ended like this:

As a result of this phone call, Angel will be coming to visit the Scoobies in San Francisco. We will see what happens in tomorrow's issue. Buffy and Spike are openly in a relationship now, so awkwardness is guaranteed.

But this is not really a comics post. I'm just using the comics as an excuse to post an old Spike/Angel vid of mine, "I Hate You", which I was reminded of by those final panels of #15. It's also an anniversary of sorts: it's almost exactly a year ago that I first posted "I Hate You" on YouTube. (Sadly, it's also my most recent vid. Work on my current vid project has been on hold since the end of last year due to lack of time. I hope I'll be able to pick it up again in the summer.)

Anyway, on to the vid:

The talented [livejournal.com profile] kikimay wrote a lovely little fic based on my prompt "Spike and Dru in Italy in the fifties". It's wonderful and I love it. So go, read!

Yes, I did it -- I finally finished the story banner I promised to [livejournal.com profile] sparrow2000 for her story Searching for Jim. I kept her waiting since January; I hope it's been worth the wait!

On top is the latest version. In my original versions (below) I had Jim as "the man in the moon" but on second thought, that was probably a bit too whimsical to fit the mood of the story. So I've revised it, and this is the result:

And now I'm really going to stop making new versions!
double_dutchess: (Spuffy flame hands)
I haven't read it yet, just seen lots of spoiler images (here) but it looks like tomorrow's Buffy comic (issue #14) is going to be a total Spuffy feast.

Spoiler image behind cut )

Good writing, bad writing, cheesy fanservice, at this point I don't care and am just basking in the Spuffiness of it all. Of course it's bound to go horribly wrong again any time now.

Also, it seems I totally called the identity of the bad guy based on the solicitation and covers of #16. That's a first (and probably last) for me!

Finally, sorry for not even managing to make a measly one post per month. I just don't know where to find the time.

This month's Buffy comic issue (S10 #12) is a treat for Spuffy fans. I have no time to write a review or a recap, but look here for a good one by [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight. I will just use an image to express how I feel:

The art is by Rebekah Isaacs, from Buffy S10 #1.

Also, those of you who would like to know what happened off-panel in the comic, go read Terrus Dacktellus' fic "Blowing the Grounsils" (comic readers will know what the title means).
