So, I'm having a bit of déjà-vu here, because once again this journal is only showing empty spaces where images used to be. That's because the image hosting site I've been using for the last 6 years shut down without notice yesterday. I've made an account at another image hosting site and have started replacing some links (not on this journal but elsewhere), but I'm not sure if I'm up to the task of re-uploading 6 years' worth of icons, wallpapers, banners and other images, and then fixing the links not just on here but in other spaces too. In any case, if I'm going to do it, it's going to be a looooooong process, so please get used to seeing empty spaces here for the foreseeable future.

To be honest, I don't really expect it to be a big problem because I haven't posted here for over a year now, so not many people are likely to stumble across this journal, but still.

comments

Jan Rot, our own Dutch "Johnny Rotten" died today

I heard this afternoon that Dutch singer/songwriter Jan Rot (1957-2022) died today. I'm a long time fan of his so I can't let his death go unnoticed, even though I'm sure no one has heard of him outside The Netherlands. For the longest time he wasn't that well-known in The Netherlands either, but he did have a few very modest hits in the eighties, including "Bobby, Roger and Eileen". None of them ever made Top 40 though. Since 2000 Jan Rot became more nationally famous for his many translations of songs, pop as well as classic ones.

I've always loved him for his own songs though; I own several of his albums. I also saw him in concert a few times. And yes, his name really is Johnny Rotten, literally translated. According to Jan Rot's own story, Johnny Rotten actually got his name from him :-)

Anyway, let me just repost this old vid of mine in his memory.

comments

For this Fall's round of seasonal_spuffy the theme was "Walk Through the Fire". It reminded me of "Fire" by The Pointer Sisters. To me, the lyrics of "Fire" just scream Spuffy, and I thought it was nice to do a vid from Buffy's pov for a change. Also, it's just a great song! Note: the vid is possibly not entirely worksafe due to some Spike nudity and sexy scenes, but mostly just kissing (lots of it).

<br>
( Credits for the vid )

I also submitted a banner for the banner poll, which you can see under the cut below.
It's about time I started producing some fannish stuff this year, and what's a better occasion than Fandom Trumps Hate? I saw it advertised by various people and I couldn't resist the temptation of signing up. I have two offers, one for fan art and one for a fan vid. You can find them here, together with the other Buffyverse offers.

So if anyone is interested, go ahead: make a (hopefully winning) bid on one of my offers, donate to charity and force me to finally get something done again!

comments
