Jan Rot, our own Dutch "Johnny Rotten" died today

I heard this afternoon that Dutch singer/songwriter Jan Rot (1957-2022) died today. I'm a long time fan of his so I can't let his death go unnoticed, even though I'm sure no one has heard of him outside The Netherlands. For the longest time he wasn't that well-known in The Netherlands either, but he did have a few very modest hits in the eighties, including "Bobby, Roger and Eileen". None of them ever made Top 40 though. Since 2000 Jan Rot became more nationally famous for his many translations of songs, pop as well as classic ones.

I've always loved him for his own songs though; I own several of his albums. I also saw him in concert a few times. And yes, his name really is Johnny Rotten, literally translated. According to Jan Rot's own story, Johnny Rotten actually got his name from him :-)

Anyway, let me just repost this old vid of mine in his memory.

I have of course seen this vid before and I loved it. Before this vid, I never heard this song. When I saw the vid I was very intrigued by the song. He was very talented, may he rest in peace.
