Spike and Angel (comics / vid)

Last month's Buffy comic (S10 issue #15) ended like this:



As a result of this phone call, Angel will be coming to visit the Scoobies in San Francisco. We will see what happens in tomorrow's issue. Buffy and Spike are openly in a relationship now, so awkwardness is guaranteed.

But this is not really a comics post. I'm just using the comics as an excuse to post an old Spike/Angel vid of mine, "I Hate You", which I was reminded of by those final panels of #15. It's also an anniversary of sorts: it's almost exactly a year ago that I first posted "I Hate You" on YouTube. (Sadly, it's also my most recent vid. Work on my current vid project has been on hold since the end of last year due to lack of time. I hope I'll be able to pick it up again in the summer.)

Hahahaha! I don't remember seeing this before, but it's awesome. Poor Angel.

You did a really nice job intercutting the fight scenes, and I like how you solved the aspect-ratio problem by using a border. Very clever.

Normally I would use cropping to deal with the different aspect ratios, but in this case I wanted to use the border with the logos to express the rivalry between the two and give it a touch of a western.

Really? To be honest, I was only joking and had no idea whether you in fact liked Angel or not. So it turns out my little joke had more truth in it than I thought!

I like Angel well enough myself (not counting stupid S8 Angel that is), but still I had fun letting Spike bash him in this vid!

Oh man, what a freaking great vid! The song is so perfect (and I am now looking up other music by the Stranglers, haha) and everything fits just perfectly.

I've been spending lots of time reading in the side of fandom where Spike can sometimes get a bit woobie-fied, so it's nice to be reminded of all the times he comes out on top :P

Thank you, you're making me blush! And you'll find that I Hate You is not exactly a typical Stranglers song. They have a pretty varied repertoire, but it's pretty much all great (in my modest opinion as a big Stranglers fan). Also, lots of their songs fit very well with the Buffyverse. In fact, half of my vids to date are set to Stranglers songs, and I have plans for loads more :-)

I haven't read all of them yet, but I really liked My Immortal and your Cavemen series, as well as Captain Spike (just to name a few). I probably never told you that, because I was still a lurker at LJ when I read them and very bad at commenting. I hope this makes up for it just a little bit!

Thank you! This was the vid's debut on my LJ; I had originally posted it only on YouTube and BuffyTube. Sadly my vidding activities are still on hold; at the moment I'm using my rare spare time making icons for summer_of_giles. So I'm going to be stuck with posting old vids for a while yet!

God, I love this! The glee on Spike's face! I've watched it already 5 times since last night (or more?)! One of the best vids I've seen so far. Brilliant!

As for brushing off your Stranglers cd's, yay! Big added bonus! I'm a big Stranglers fan myself (as will be obvious to anyone who has watched even only a few of my vids) and I'm always happy to meet people who like them too.
