So, I'm having a bit of déjà-vu here, because once again this journal is only showing empty spaces where images used to be. That's because the image hosting site I've been using for the last 6 years shut down without notice yesterday. I've made an account at another image hosting site and have started replacing some links (not on this journal but elsewhere), but I'm not sure if I'm up to the task of re-uploading 6 years' worth of icons, wallpapers, banners and other images, and then fixing the links not just on here but in other spaces too. In any case, if I'm going to do it, it's going to be a looooooong process, so please get used to seeing empty spaces here for the foreseeable future.

To be honest, I don't really expect it to be a big problem because I haven't posted here for over a year now, so not many people are likely to stumble across this journal, but still.

For this Fall's round of [community profile] seasonal_spuffy the theme was "Walk Through the Fire". It reminded me of "Fire" by The Pointer Sisters. To me, the lyrics of "Fire" just scream Spuffy, and I thought it was nice to do a vid from Buffy's pov for a change. Also, it's just a great song! Note: the vid is possibly not entirely worksafe due to some Spike nudity and sexy scenes, but mostly just kissing (lots of it).

I also submitted a banner for the banner poll, which you can see under the cut below. (In full size the width is 900px.)

For the past round of [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy (theme: Truth or Dare) I made three banners. I made the first two for the banner contest, and the first one actually won! Then again, only 5 banners competed in total. I really hope more will be entered in the next round.

The third banner, which was a Fandom Trumps Hate gift, is a fic banner for "Something White", the second story in [personal profile] thenewbuzwuzz's  meerkat AU.

And my final [community profile] seasonal_spuffy entry: a Sleeping Beauty wallpaper with Spike in the role of the sleeper, and Andrew as the storyteller: This also fills the "Andrew" prompt on my [community profile] buffyversebingo card. The full size of the wallpaper is 1920x1080, and you can see it in its full glory HERE.

Another [community profile] seasonal_spuffy entry was my prompt fill for justwriter2, who wanted shirtless woodcutter Spike. In my interpretation of the prompt, he meets wood fairy Buffy, who seems to have taken a shine to him. I've also made a banner, in a daytime and a nighttime version. Wallpaper and banners are customizable in case anyone is interested in that. I also plan to let this one do double duty as my "free space" fill on my [community profile] buffyversebingo card.

Back to re-posting my [community profile] seasonal_spuffy entries! These are the banners I made for the banner poll, together with some variations. In full size they are all 900 px wide.

I'm enjoying two weeks (yay!!) of Christmas holidays and that means I now have the time to spam everybody with the things I've made in the second half of the year. They were all made for [community profile] seasonal_spuffy, so be prepared -- it's 100% Spuffy.

I'll start off in reverse chronological order with the most recent thing I did, because it's Christmas-themed, so a good occasion to wish all who read this a

Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays, if you're not doing Christmas)!

I hope you and your families are all safe and well, and can make the most of the holidays even if you have to celebrate them remotely or with other restrictions due to COVID-19.

Below the cut you find a Christmas version of the diorama of Buffy and Spike's bedroom in the comics that I made for the Seasonal Spuffy solstice free-for-all. As a bonus (not posted on Seasonal Spuffy) I added an extra picture at the end.

The next step of making the shoebox diorama was selecting, editing and printing the comics images I wanted to use. Luckily, the Thursday before the summer solstice was my first day back at my workplace, and this meant I could abuse the colour printer at work to print the images. I forgot to print a few of the images, so not all of them are full-colour (most notably the Klimt poster and Buffy’s scarf). I printed out most images in multiple sizes, because it was difficult to estimate the best size and I hadn’t had time to make exact measurements.

For the actual physical execution. I started with the most important piece, that of Buffy and Spike of the bed. I wanted to make the bed three dimensional, but there was no way I could do that with Buffy and Spike themselves. So this ended up as a bit of a strange mix of two and three dimensional (images 1 and 2). I did the same thing with the dresser: the dresser itself is three-dimensional, but the vase with flowers and the tissue box on top of it are two-dimensional. This can be clearly seen in image 1 below, which also shows the backside of the dresser (made of the same cardboard box as the bed).

In this part I’ll talk about the preparatory research that was the first step of making the shoebox diorama for [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy (see my previous post).

Before I could physically make the diorama – the crafty stuff follows in the next part – I needed to figure out what to make exactly. Given the theme I’d chosen for the shoebox diorama (Buffy and Spike watching TV in bed together), I knew from the start that I wanted to use this image as the centre piece:

NB: this is my edited version and not the original image.

Hey, how are you all doing? I'm having some time off work (well, more or less) and finally finding the time to post some things to LJ. Starting with the shoebox diorama of Buffy and Spike's bedroom that I made for the Summer Solstice free-for-all over at [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy. With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] teragramm for the term “diorama” term, which sounds a bit grandiose to my ears, but so much better than “peepbox” which I used originally.
