LIMS BtVS round 13 icons

The current round of lims_btvs is not over yet (so  don't forget to vote in the final challenge!) but it is over for me. Here are the icons I made for this round, numbered by challenge:

I wasn't happy with my Oz icon at all, and I'm really lucky it didn't get me eliminated right off the bat. Based on the feedback I made a new version (1a below), but unfortunately that one sucks too. I still like the concept, but I guess it needs a better icon maker to execute it properly.

My Anya icon I was actually happy with, but it still got me eliminated. According to feedback, the icon was too busy and the font colours didn't fit with the rest. So I made a new, more subdued version (2a), but I find it a bit boring. I actually really like the bright pink (and it's on the Game of Life box too, anyway) so 2b is now my favourite version.

The Dawn icon I made for the comeback challenge (combining two textures from colorfilter; below are the single-texture versions) got me back into the game, but that only lasted until the next challenge. At least I got the chance to icon punk!Spike, which is always a pleasure. Below is a full colour variant, but I like the one with black and white Spike better.

Oh, cool! I like the fun, fun, fun icon -- so useful (if I changed icons, I'd absolutely snag). Nice concept for Oz, yes. The second version does make it much easier to notice what's up. And yay, punk!Spike! :)

Thanks! In fact I made the Anya icon with usefulness in mind. I just can't use it myself because I'm letting my icon packages expire -- with the new ToS, I'm just no longer comfortable giving money to LJ.

Yes -- when all my LJ payments expire I plan to make Dreamwidth my main home, cross-posting to LJ (I still need to figure out how that works). But I don't want to leave LJ altogether because of the friends and communities here. I don't like having to keep track of two sites at the same time, but I guess it can't be helped :-(

I like the Anya one - and the Spike one. Not sure why Oz's lip looks distorted EDIT - Oh, I see! Sorry - it's first thing in the morning!

Those two are my favourites too. And your initial reaction to the Oz icon illustrates nicely what's wrong with it!

I think the Oz idea is a good one, and agree with you about the b&w Spike. The combined texture Dawn looks great, but I really like the 2a Anya. We've been playing board games over the holiday and I can totally relate!

Thanks! I guess the Oz concept was just a bit too ambitious -- maybe I should try it again after a few more years and a lot more oractice ;-) I'm a big fan of board games myself, so the Anya icons really resonate with me too.

The icons are visible again! I've finally started the painstaking work of reuploading my images elsewhere and replacing all my links.
